Basically search engines are the huge megasystems that drive the internet. Search Engines locate and list web sites based on their popularity on the web.

There are a number of techniques that one can use to make a website “rise” and be noticed on the huge search engines. Also to make them show up higher in the search listings (i.e. show up on the first page instead of the middle or last page listing). This is called “search engine optimization”.

This can be a very complicated process, and is an art as much as a science. try goin to Yahoo or google search page and type in “search engine optimization” on the search bar, and press enter. You will find some wonderful examples, and some sources to get help doing this.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target uncommon kinds of search, including persona search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines

Search engine optimization is the method used to make your website “search engine friendly”.

    This includes:

Use of keyword-all ears page titles
Use of keywords within a website’s copy (text)
The structuring of a web page (internally, the HTML)
Use of keyword-all ears internal links (links from one page to another within your website)
A well-developed internal linking structure (not making “orphaned” pages, eliminating “broken” pages)

The hope behind SEO is that you’ll increase your website’s rank in search engines for your intended keywords. But, in competitive markets, “on page” optimization fundamentals (like I mentioned above) will not get you very far in the major engines.

Some things that may help to improve your website’s ranking & positioning in search engines:

The age of your domain (older websites get a lot more trust from Google than new ones, and that’s apparent especially in high-competition markets)

The types of backlinks (inbound links from 3rd party websites) that your website receives. What works “best” in stipulations of backlinks will depend on the keyword market you’re catering to.

Truth be told, getting other websites to link to yours is the best business you can do to optimize/market/promote/brand your website – links hold an exorbitant amount of power for improving a website’s rankings. But, don’t ignore the on-page fundamentals I listed at the top because genteel on-page optimization should be the foundation on which you base all of your other optimization/marketing on.

SEO can also target uncommon kinds of search, including persona search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

As a marketing strategy for increasing a site’s relevance, SEO considers how search algorithms work and what people search for. SEO efforts may involve a site’s coding, presentation, and structure, as well as fixing tribulations that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Other, more noticeable efforts may include adding unique content to a site, ensuring that content is easily indexed by search engine robots, and making the site more appealing to users. Another class of techniques, known as black hat SEO or spamdexing, use methods such as link farms and keyword stuffing that tend to harm search engine user experience. Search engines look for sites that use these techniques and may remove them from their indices.

The initialism “SEO” can also refer to “search engine optimizers” or “Search Engine Optimizician”, stipulations adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may place forward SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of a site, SEO tactics may be incorporated into web site enhancement and point. The term “search engine friendly” may be used to describe web site designs, menus, content management systems, URLs, and shopping carts that are simple to optimize.
